This May marks the beginning of the 58th season of Chopin Concerts at Łazienki Królewskie which, as every year, will be a mandatory event of the program on the Varsovian cultural map from spring to golden autumn. The inaugural concert held on the 14th of May began with the performance of Lukas Geniušas, a world-renowned pianist. It is a perfect opportunity for all connoisseurs of music to hear genius interpretations of Chopin’s music live.
Virtuosos en plein air
The Chopin Concerts are one the oldest musical events of the Capital City and they have become its signature cultural event. The most famous classical musicians are invited by organizers to Warsaw to take part in this prestigious event which elevates its participants. In this season as well, virtuosos of the grand piano will perform for Varsovian audiences who have been part of these extraordinary concerts for years. This year’s programme will surely satisfy enthusiasts of Chopin’s music – world-famous artists will grace the stage, among them Lukas Geniušas (14th of May, at 12:00), Kevin Kenner (21st of May, at 12:00) and Takashi Yamamoto (18th of June, at 16:00). During this year’s season, many Polish young grand pianists will enchant the audience with their performances.
The spring-summer season will begin on the 14th of May at 12:00 with the concert of Lukas Geniušas. This young and extremely talented pianist is well-known for his brilliant performances of Chopin’s pieces. He performs all around the world and is a laureate of many an international competition. Among his achievements are: second place in the 2010 International Chopin Piano Competition. He also received a prize from the Fryderyk Chopin Society for the best performance of the polonaise.
On the same day, on a Sunday afternoon, at 16:00, a fellow Pole will perform – Doctor of Musical Arts Konrad Skolarski. In 2002 he recorded his debut album with compositions by Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev. Since 2011 he has been cooperating with Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
