Warsaw – capital of the New Year’s Eve 2017!
On the 31st of December 2017 Warsaw hosted the biggest stars of Polish music: Bajm, Kayah, Agnieszka Chylińska, Bracia, Ira, Blue Cafe, Kombi, Pectus, Ewelina Lisowska, Kasia Kowalska and Grzegorz Hyży, among others. Jamaican artist OMI, the artist behind the international hit song “Cheerleader”, also performed on the New Year’s stage. Guests gathered on the Bank Square as well as TVN and player service viewers celebrated that special night under the banner: “Warsaw – capital of the New Year’s Eve 2017”.
Urban New Year’s Eve shows have been drawing large crowds for many years now. Celebration in the city space has already become a tradition and an event awaited by Varsovians and others. Not only the inhabitants of neighbouring Mazovian localities, but also residents from more distant places in Poland come to see it. – said Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Mayor of Warsaw.
Varsovians as well as TVN viewers enjoyed the last night of the year with the greatest hits of pop music at the Bank Square. Among the performing artists there were the hottest names of the Polish music scene - Bajm, Kayah, Agnieszka Chylińska, Bracia, Ira, Blue Cafe, Kombi, Pectus, Grzegorz Hyży, Perfect, Kasia Kowalska, Ewelina Lisowska, Soun’N’Grace, Cleo, Mateusz Ziółko and Future Folk. There was also a special guest invited – Jamaican Singer OMI, whose song ‘Hula Hoop’ has reached Platinum status in Australia, Denmark and Sweden. He performed, i.a. his hit ‘Cheerleader’, which has reached nearly 1.5 billion plays on YouTube.
This new years’s eve celebration will bring many surprises, which we have been preparing for Varsovians and TVN viewers. On that night, at the Bank Square and in front of the TVs, we will start celebrating the 40th anniversary of the band Bajm. I can also reveal that the two great Polish divas: Beata Kozidrak and Kayah, will perform together for the first time, on our very own scene! This is not the only duet we have in store. Kayah, along with Grzegorz Hyży, will perform a song promoting a romantic comedy produced by TVN, “Podatek od Miłości”. We have invited the best of the best – among our performers there will also be a place for the participants of our shows – Natalia Capelik-Muianga and Nick Sinckler. We guarantee you a splendid multimedia show and a spectacular musical entertainment – said Edward Miszczak, TVN’s program director.
The celebration was hosted by well-liked TVN presenters: Agnieszka Woźniak Starak, Patricia Kazadi, Gabi Drzewiecka, Marcin Prokop, Olivier Janiak and Filip Chajzer.
The show’s choreography was prepared by Agustin Egurrola and dancers from the VOLT group. The fun lasted for over five hours!
There were two means of capturing the fleeting moments. The City of Warsaw set up a promotional area at the entrance to the celebration (from the side of Al. Solidarności). Everyone could take a picture of themselves or record new year’s wishes for their loved ones or for the entire Warsaw and its inhabitants. The wishes were published on the official profile of the City of Warsaw on social media and on the city’s official website www.um.warszawa.pl. The atmosphere was warmed up by tea prepared using Warsaw tap water.
The fun at the Bank Square in Warsaw started precisely at 19:00, while the live broadcast on TVN and in the player service began at 19:45.
