On June 21, the 19th edition of Garlands on the Vistula River took place, the largest open-to-all outdoor event in Warsaw. So far, the most important part of the Warsaw Midsummer Night was music and evening concerts. This time, Stołeczna Estrada, the organiser of the event, has prepared an all-day family programme, to which everyone was invited from the early afternoon hours.
With the new formula prepared by Stołeczna Estrada, the celebrations of the shortest night of the year lasted throughout the day, evening, until midnight. Activities at the Multimedia Fountain Park is part of the plan elaborated by Andrzej Matusiak, Director of Stołeczna Estrada, aiming to stimulate the cultural life through the implementation of artistic, animation and entertainment activities on the Warsaw Bank in Podzamcze.
On the occasion of the Garlands, this place hosted the Midsummer Picnic of the 21st Century. Here, tradition joined forces with modernity, the ancient habits were transformed by the modern ideas of young artists. In addition to the midsummer fun and games with a garland in the background, you had the opportunity to, among others, travel along the Vistula River in traditional boats and watch balloon flights.
In the evening, starting at 20.00 hrs., the outdoor stage in Sanguszki street hosted the performances from:
Hey - one of the most important Polish rock bands with its charismatic lead vocalist, Kasia Nosowską.
Dżem - one of the most important Polish rock bands.
Łąki Łan – a band made out of six extraordinary amateurs of pollen and nectar, playing a combination of punk and funk.
A few hours later, the stage welcomed our guest star from abroad, Razorlight, who surely further warmed up the audience in Podzamcze, and at midnight, we traditionally were delighted by Poland's most beautiful midsummer show on the Vistula, a directed pyrotechnic spectacle accompanied with music.
