JAZZ PO POLSKU AT COPENHAGEN JAZZ FESTIVAL 2012

This year's Copenhagen Jazz Festival opens its doors to a string of excellent Polish and Polish-Danish jazz acts, featuring Leszek Możdżer and a total of nine jazz bands.

JAZZ PO POLSKU is the three days' project (12th-14th of July) and will include a wide range of high-level musicians from the Polish jazz scene - from Leszek Możdżer with a world class solo piano concert over exclusive jazz trios to young ensembles anno 2012: Imagination Quartet, JazzPospolita, Levity, GMO Trio, HERA, Nowicki - Święs - Frankiewicz Trio, The Light, Tomasz Licak Sextet and Niechęć. This makes the program versatile, vibrant and vital and there is stylistically something for everyone

The project is the result of an extensive cooperation between Huset-KBH, JazzDanmark, Sundance Music, The Polish Embassy in Copenhagen, The Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Stołeczna Estrada and a number of independent participants in Poland (OnlyMusicPR, Multikulti Group, IMS, SMNG and AheadStudio).

JAZZ PO POLSKU is a window into a thriving jazz scene, yet unknown to many jazz enthusiasts. Many of the musicians are widely experienced in an international context, while others are yet to be discovered outside of Poland.

In a larger perspective, there is no doubt that art and music from the former Eastern Bloc has a future, energy and a potential, which we are only now coming to realize in rest of the world. JAZZ PO POLSKU gives the many jazz lovers of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival a taste of this.

CHOPIN AU JARDIN DU LUXEMBURG

For six consecutive weeks, in Paris, in the city garden surrounding the Senate, one of the most beautiful locations on the Seine, Frédéric Chopin's compositions will be resounding, interpreted by notable Warsaw artists.

Usually, it is Warsaw that models itself on Paris. In the case of the Jardin du Luxembourg concerts, the inspiration came from the summer piano recitals, held for the past 52 years in Royal Baths Park in Warsaw. The idea to move the concerts with the repertoire from the great Polish composer who spent half his life in the French capital, was met with great interest.
Last year – the Chopin Year – was the perfect opportunity to present such a series of outdoor concerts which proved a huge success already in the first part. Altogether, the musical encounters with Chopin gathered tens of thousands of Parisians.
We hope that also this year, music lovers will come to the garden spontaneously... and with their own chairs!

This year's edition of Chopin au Jardin du Luxemburg will present such eminent performers as: Wojciech Świtała, Karol Radziwonowicz, Julia Kociuban, Paweł Wakarecy and Mateusz Kołakowski.
