On Saturday, 5th December, Warsaw will reveal its Christmas face. At 5 pm, at Plac Zamkowy, we will light up the most beautiful Christmas tree in the city, while the entire Royal Route and all illuminated streets will glitter with Christmas colours.
For years, the first weekend of December has been known as the magical moment, when Santa visits Warsaw. It is the time when the capital becomes even more beautiful, thanks to the Christmas ambiance. It will happen this year as well.
At 5 pm, at the stage by Plac Zamkowy we will meet fairy tale characters and elves, who will join Santa’s suite. Children from “Fasolki” group will sing intimate songs, while “Mazowsze” band will present the rich variety of traditional songs and chants.
We will not have to wait long for the Christmas tree to be light up, but it all depends on the comet, that we had recently seen. It is said, that this day it will rise again upon the sky of Warsaw and help turning on the Christmas illuminations.
As soon as it is done, Santa and his colourful suite will lead a parade, which will march from Miodowa Street, via Krakowskie Przedmieście, Nowy Świat, up to Chmielna Street.
Another exciting event this day will be the Christmas Tent, where you will get a chance to feel as an outstanding confectioner. Freshly baked, aromatic gingerbread cookies will wait to be decorated. You will also find there beautiful cards, presenting Warsaw in a warm, Christmassy variation. At Poczta Polska post office stand, at the spot, you will get a special stamp and get your card ready to be sent.
The event will be hosted by President of the Capital City of Warsaw and Stołeczna Estrada – city’s culture institution – organiser of the event
As a part of Christmas celebrations, from 28th November, the Christmas Market will be held in front of PGE National Stadium. It will be operating until 23rd December.
